Fighting for Bailey

the Gallatins

Drug addiction, alcohol, and crime have taken priority in the lives of Bailey’s parents since her birth. She is now 6 and her father is still incarcerated. A very sad story, but thank God the story doesn’t end there….

The Gallatin Family, good friends of ours, has given her a home through all of this, and is trying to adopt precious Bailey.

Bailey’s mother by her own choice did not see or talk to Bailey for over two years. As you can imagine, a 6-year old doesn’t understand that and questions whether her mother ever thinks of her. We have no answers for her, but we cling to the promise of God in Isaiah 49:15, “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the child of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.”

There are some complicating factors involved, including an incarcerated father, an unstable mother who has re-entered the picture, and an aunt in Florida trying to gain custody of Bailey. At this point, her father has signed his consent for our guardianship. We’re hoping the judge in Florida will accept the Georgia guardianship as final and dismiss the custody case and allow us to proceed with the adoption.

The fight is long and hard…and expensive…but Bailey’s future, spiritual development, and tender heart are too precious to quit fighting for.
